This year’s poster is a beautiful oil painting of The Pink Palace, located on St. James Court. The Pink Palace has an interesting storied history like so many homes in Old Louisville.
Julie Wilkinson, the 2013 Poster Artist lives in Louisville with her husband, Chip, and their five children She has always been interested in drawing and painting, honing her skills with classes at Shrodt Art Studio and currently at Mudpies Studio. She enjoys finding locales of interest and putting her touch to them through oils, including landscapes, seascapes, architecture, and animals.
The poster will be unveiled officially at the 2013 St. James Court Art Show Gala on September 28.
A limited number of signed & numbered posters will be available for $50. Unsigned posters will be sold for $25. The size of the poster this year is 18″ x 24″. Other merchandise, including coffee mugs and t-shirts will be sold at the St. James Court Association’s Merchandise booth located across from the Fountain.
Now a long-held St James Court Art Show tradition, Sonny Whittle and Mark Bird created the first official the art show poster in 1981. Sonny exclusively created posters for the art show through 1994. The first poster competition was held in 1995 and established the practice that continues through today. A limited printing of only 150 signed copies / 150 unsigned of the official commemorative poster are available for sale each year.
