19th Annual Poster Has Been Chosen – 2014 Entries
Nikki Pritchett wins 2014 Competition!
Nikki Pritchett is a self taught artist. She developed her signature style over several years.
The work evolved into a unique painting style that is both whimsical and funky and known
for its bold colors and curving black outlines. She mostly works with acrylics on canvas but
also with watercolor, gouache, markers, and ink. Regardless of the medium, the curving
lines and bold colors define her work, making it easily recognizable. In addition, Nikki’s
paintings can be identified by the cityscapes, flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, fish, and
beach scenes which often act as the subject of her works.
Honors include being named Best Artist for Evansville Living magazine Best of the City
January/February 2014 issue. She designed the cover for this issue, as well. Nikki was
commissioned in 2010 to do paintings for Churchill Downs Entertainment’s events called
Fork, Cork, & Style which were held at Churchill Downs and Arlington Park. Each painting
was signed by Emeril Lagasse and auctioned for charity.
Nikki currently lives with her husband and three daughters in Evansville, Indiana, where
she works as a professional artist in her home studio. She oftens displays at art shows
with her mother and a sister who work as professional artists, too.

History of the Poster
The poster’s image communicates the vitality of the art show, the architectural beauty of the St. James Court neighborhood, and the cultural richness of historic Old Louisville. The poster competition is an ideal way for both established and emerging designers to showcase their talents while actively contributing to the look of the St. James Court Art Show.
Now a long-held St James Court Art Show tradition, Sonny Whittle and Mark Bird created the first official the art show poster in 1981. Sonny exclusively created posters for the art show through 1994. The first poster competition was held in 1995 and established the practice that continues through today. A limited printing of the official commemorative poster are available for sale each year.
Posters will be available for purchase during the art show at the Official Merchandise Booth located on the western side of the St. James Court fountain (Booth SJ-227).
While St. James Court Association has received hundreds of high caliber entries from artists, designers, students and amateurs alike, featured below are the winning posters from the past nineteen years.
